Yes-Go’s – if you can’t be open minded
Interview with:
Djuna of the Yes Go’s - http://www.myspace.com/theyesgos
Djuna came on and played three Yes Go’s songs, plus some songs from the Vibrartors, Birdman, Buzzcocks, Dos, and other bands she had seen. And we talked about music and clubs in San Francsico.
We talked about Djuna’s band, artistic and personal life. Djuna – a bass playing – motorcycle riding sweetie , who is a paralegal, was in the military and the Peace Core, and is a post-op M-F.
We talked about how she choose her name, respect for people’s gender choices, how gender is more fluid and indefinable then many people think, we talked about changing your name and gender on all ideas and documents, and the prejudice some people have around transgender individuals.
We didn’t talk about the hole surgery side – but what you really need to know on that is – yes, the parts completely function.
Also during the show we did a a moment of silence for the passing of :
Erno – tattoo shop owner, Pirate Cat DJ and great person; and
Kitty Kastro– a sweetheart & producer od TrannyTalk TV -SF public access
Did a PSA for safe2pee.org - gender neutral – clean – free bathrooms
I played a Bob the Mechanic from the Bedlam Rovers for St. Patty Day – told people to be respectful and safe as they gor drunk also gave afew non drinking events in SF to go to at the end of the show.
Also talked with Monkey via the phone about why Daylight Savings came early:
